MAG Wasp in the iconic Oslo, Norway hall

Frogner Kino opened last year after a restoration in Oslo, Norway. This amazing boutique cinema seems to transport visitors to the past – the interior is completely recreated in the spirit of the 1920s, and the modern program is diversified by timeless classics and silent films accompanied by an orchestra.

To sound the hall, an audio system is needed that would complement and emphasize the unique retro atmosphere of the cinema, while meeting the expectations of modern viewers. MAG Audio systems coped with these tasks perfectly.

“Since Frogner is an unusual cinema and there is live music several times a month, we chose the MAG WASP line array as the main sound, with a horizontal directivity of 110°. Thanks to the precision and clarity of the WASP, it doesn’t feel like the orchestra is being amplified, which adds to the authenticity,” comments Hugo Fuhlendorff, Technical Manager at Kino & AV Teknikk.

3 x WASP and 2 x MAG WASP-S18 were installed on each side, as well as in the center behind the screen. Additional low-frequency support is provided by 2 x MAG SUB 28. For surround sound, 12 custom-made SUR-103 surround systems were installed around the perimeter of the hall.
